Maggie's celebrates the charitable success of the People's Postcode Lottery
Maggie’s were delighted to be among the many good causes invited to attend a celebration event at the end of January 2012, which recognised the great support that charities across the United Kingdom have received from the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The gala was attentded by Laura Lee, Maggie's Chief Executive and Laura McGill, Maggie's Corporate Partnerships Manager, along with representatives from other charities the lottery supports. The event provided Maggie's with an opportunity to thank the charity lottery team for the fantastic sum of money that they and their players raised to support people affected by cancer throughout 2011, an incredible £500,321.
The funds raised by People's Postcode Lottery players has a vital impact on Maggie's, as Laura McGill explained; "We are once again delighted to be starting 2012 in partnership with the People’s Postcode Lottery after having an opportunity to celebrate a very successful year in 2011. The money we receive from the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery is vitally important to Maggie’s, helping us to run our network of cancer support centres from Inverness to Swansea. Without this support we simply could not do what we do for people living with the impact of cancer."
Every year, People's Postcode Lottery hosts their Charity Gala, offering charities the opportunity to meet the team and reflect on the past year. This year, the Gala was held at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh on the evening of Tuesday 31 January 2012. The beautiful setting provided the perfect space to allow charity representatives to socialise with one another and learn more about the wide ranging support from the lottery across various charitable sectors, from health to environment to children’s causes.
Maggie’s was one of the People’s Postcode Lottery's founding charity partners. Since January 2008, Maggie's has benefitted from the amazing generosity of Postcode Lottery Players, receiving over £2million worth of support towards the running costs of their centres in England, Wales and Scotland.
