“It’s a great fun alternative night out, and I would encourage groups of friends and family to sign up now. Your support helps us to continue to offer free emotional and practical support to people facing the devastating consequences of cancer.”

a new start & a new route & new buildings... presenting the Glasgow Night Hike 2011

Kaye Adams has launched the 2011 Glasgow Night Hike. What will make this year's event special for you?

Some of the participants and fundraisers who played a vital role in making last year's inaugural Glasgow Night Hike such a success met outside the new Riverside Transport Museum on the Clyde Waterfront to exclusively reveal the details about the second Glasgow Night Hike.

This year's event will be a festival on foot, taking participants on a unique 10-mile hike through the city. Among the sites on route are the Glasgow Art Club and Merchant City Festival and there will be food and fantastic entertainment throughout the walk to make it a Friday to remember. The evening is set to draw to a close at Maggie's Glasgow.

The participants from last year were joined by television presenter Kaye Adams. Kaye, a supporter of Maggie's with a love of walking and architecture, announced that The Riverside Transport Museum would be the starting venue for this year's event. The venue, which is due to open for the public towards the end of June, will host the opening party and, through architect Zara Hadid, shares a close link with Maggie's Fife.

The Glasgow Night Hike is scheduled to take place on Firday 22 July, with registration open now. Last year's hikers raised an astonishing £110,000, with every penny raised going towards changing the lives of people affected by cancer. This year we'd love to be joined by you, your friends, family and colleagues so we can keep our centres' doors open to over 400 visitors per day.

Maggie’s Event Manager, Claire Benjamin, said: “We are really excited to launch our second ever Glasgow Night Hike with Kaye today. Glasgow is such a fabulous city, brimming with great architecture and culture, and our new night hike route very much reflects that, with fabulous buildings and entertainment on board. It’s a great fun alternative night out, and I would encourage groups of friends and family to sign up now. Your support helps us to continue to offer free emotional and practical support to people facing the devastating consequences of cancer.”
