Laura Lee and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall on the site of Maggie's Nottingham
Nicholas Chandor of Paul Smith meets HRH the Duchess of Cornwall

“Clearly Maggie's is close to her heart. She's so enthusiastic.”

Judy Naake, Chairman Maggie's Nottingham Campaign Board

Maggie's President, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, visits the site of Maggie's Nottingham

The Duchess was viewing the progress of the project that will bring Maggie's cancer support to the city and meeting some of the supporters who have helped to raise £2 million towards the centre so far.

Construction on Maggie's Nottingham, on the site of Nottingham City Hospital, started in November 2010. It is the third of the centres under construction as part of Maggie's Joy of Living campaign and should be open towards the end of 2011.

During her visit, The Duchess met Penny Millward. Penny had visited Maggie's Edinburgh with her husband Andy, prior to his death from prostate cancer in 2009. The couple became key supporters of the Maggie's campaign in Nottingham.

The Duchess also met with representatives of the League of Friends, construction company Bowmer and Kirkland, Nicholas Chandor (representing designer Paul Smith, who is working on the interior of the centre) and Judy Naake, chairman of Maggie's Nottingham's campaign board.
