Pedal for Scotland - 12 September 2010
Pedal for Scotland is the biggest and fastest growing cycling event in Scotland. It is a cycle ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh, taking participants on a scenic tour of the back roads and cycle paths between Scotland’s two major cities.
Maggie’s is delighted to be the charity partner again in 2010.
We raised more than £225,000 in 2009 - an amazing achievement - and we are aiming high again in 2010.
Maggie’s will be supporting the event by providing 50 enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help on Sunday 12 September in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
We have three shifts available in both Glasgow adn Edinburgh. They are 6am-12.30pm, 12pm-5pm and 4.30pm-7.30pm.
We're also looking for volunteer Massage Therapists and would be hugely appreciative if you or any of your contacts were available to help.
If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Claire Devlin on 0141 3415670 or claire.devlin@maggiescentres.org.
We always need volunteers to help at events and fundraisers. So if you are interested in volunteering for us, we would love to hear from you!
Current Volunteer Opportunities
At the moment, we're looking for people to take on the following roles:
• Administrative Support - London
We need a reliable person to provide temporary administrative support to our Benefits and Welfare Rights Advisor at our London Centre. This temporary post is for approximately 35 hours and it will allow you to develop valuable administrative skills and be a part of Maggie's London.
Download the PDF to find out more about this admin support role.
Plus:
Edinburgh Moonwalk - 19 June 2010
A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers who gave up their Saturday night and a lie-in on a Sunday to help staff the water station for Maggie's at the Edinburgh Moonwalk.
Our volunteers did a wonderful job and kept the walkers well watered, with a smile on their face, at both the 4 and 24 mile markers. It was an amazing experience to see all these women (and men) pounding the streets of Edinburgh in their bras.
Visit our Volunteer at Events page for more opportunities like this.
And there are many other ways you can help. We've listed a few below:
• Join your local Active Friends fundraising group.
• Volunteer at a Maggie's event such as Monster Bike and Hike, London
Night Hike, Glasgow and Edinburgh Life Walks and various running
events.
• Organise your own fundraising event such as a Pudding Club, parachute
jump or anything else you can think of!
• Help in your local area, which could involve volunteering at local
events, raising Maggie's profile in your area, distributing collecting
cans, displaying posters or selling Christmas cards.
• Work from home, in your local centre or at one of our head offices,
by supporting a range of fundraising research or administration
activities. We also have a variety of short-term project management
roles.
