    Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Maggie's London

    You're invited to a Mad Hatter's Tea Party that's being organised to raise money for Maggie's London. Alice in Wonderland and some of her favourite friends will be coming along to the centre to join us. Entry is £5 per person and in return you'll get to enjoy an afternoon tea. There will also be music heaps of games on the day for you all to enjoy. Make sure you come along with your friends and family for what is bound to be a great day out. See you in Wonderland!

  • Stuart Gillies hosts his second Maggie’s Pudding Club

    Thursday 5 August 2010, 6.30pm onwards

    Stuart Gillies hosts his second Maggie's Pudding Club

    Stuart Gillies – Chef Director of the Savoy Grill (opening Oct 2010) owned by Gordon Ramsay - is hosting another Maggie’s Pudding Club. He’ll be demonstrating how to cook delicious Summer Puddings which you’ll get to taste and take the recipe home with you! There will also be Prosecco for you to enjoy and you’ll get a fabulous goody bag too. The event will take place on Thursday 05 August at Maggie’s London (from 6.30pm). Tickets cost £35 and all money goes to Maggie’s London. There are limited tickets to this exclusive evening. Last year tickets sold in a day, so hurry to avoid disappointment.   • Monty’s Monthly Medal

    Colin Montgomerie for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres

    Colin Montgomerie is asking all Golf Clubs and Golfers across the UK to support Maggie's and the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation by taking part in Monty’s Monthly Medal. If you’re a keen golf player, all you need to do is speak to your Golf Club and ask them to get involved. You can then choose a Monthly Medal competition to take part in between now and 5 September 2010. The Club with the best score can choose between the following two prizes, then the runner up will then receive the other prize:
    • Coaching – The European Ryder Cup Captin will visit the Club to meet the juniou section. He’ll conduct a golf clinic and offer top tips to the junior section to improve their golf.
    • Ryder Cup Hospitality – Ten people to attend the practice day and opening ceremony of the Ryder Cup on 31 September in the Captain’s Hospitality, an exclusive hospitality area for the European Ryder Cup Captain. They will receive lunch, drinks and snacks throughout the day.
    In addition, the individual who submits the best golf score will win a Yonex Nanospeed 3i Driver, kindly donated by The Global Open. For further information on this competition, please email monty@maggiescentres.org or call 0300 1231801.

    Running and fundraising for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres

    Ladies, why not run the women’s 5 km in Hyde Park on Sunday 5 September 2010 and raise money for Maggie's at the same time? All you have to do is pay a £15 entry fee (£5 of which you can choose to go towards Maggie’s). We can give you a training t-shirt, sponsor forms and show you how to set up a Justgiving page to help raise even more money for Maggie’s.   • Maggie's Night Hike 2010 - London

    Maggie's Night Hike 2010 - Register now!

    Our annual 20 mile walk through late night London takes place on Friday 17 September and gives hikers exclusive access to some of London’s most iconic buildings while raising vital funds for our network of Maggie’s Centres across the UK. We’ll also be introducing our first ever 10 mile hike taking place on the same night to give everyone the chance to be part of London’s most original Friday night.

    Last year hikers raised a staggering £689,000 for people affected by cancer. Please help us beat that by signing up and encouraging your friends, family and colleagues to join in too. To register, click here.

    We're also looking for volunteers to support our late-night challenge across London. The Guildhall, Channel 4, Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Horse Guards, Bloomberg Space, the Royal Geographical Society and Maggie’s London are signed up. We’re need enthusiastic volunteers to help at each building.     People Will Always Need Plates

    We are delighted that People Will Always Need Plates have chosen to support us this Love Maggie's Day by creating three specially designed Maggie’s Centre tea towels - including a Maggie's London tea towel. The towels are priced at £8.50 each and, after VAT, 50% from each tea towel will be donated to Maggie's.   • Maggie's Pudding Club

    Will you organise a Maggie's Pudding Club for our centre?

    We're looking for people to organise a Maggie’s Pudding Club and raise money for Maggie’s at the same time. You could do this in any way you want… perhaps you'll approach a local restaurant and get them to donate some delicious puddings and then charge your friends to come along and taste them. Or maybe you'll hold a pudding competition, charging people to enter their pudding with the winner receiving a fabulous prize?

    Pub Quiz in Kingston-upon-Thames, fundraising for Maggie's London

    Thank you to everyone who went along to the Duke of Buckingham in Kingston upon Thames on Friday 11 June. The evening was a great success and raised £1,500 in total. The held an auction on the night and one of the prizes was a Chelsea football shirt signed by all the team… this raised a massive £470! Thanks to everyone who supported us.

    A big thank you to everyone who went along to Kiehl’s at their store in 29 Monmouth Street, London on Sunday 18 April and supported the Cake for a Cause fundraiser in aid of Maggie's. We hope you enjoyed getting thoroughly pampered and tasting some delicious homebaked treats.

  • Flowers for Maggie's

    Wednesday 31 March to Saturday 10 April 2010 (closed for Easter between 2 and 5 April)

    A big thank you to Penny White and the John Martin Gallery for supporting Flower's for Maggie's - an exhibition of paintings by Penny White. John Martin generously donated his gallery space in Mayfair to host the exhibition. Penny White exhibited a superb selection of watercolour paintings featuring roses, irises, poppies, anemones and tulips.

    The first £5,000 of sales and thereafter half of all sales were donated directly to Maggie's London. Penny also produced a special limited edition of 50 signed prints (£330 unframed, £480 framed) to celebrate the exhibition. All the profits from the unframed prints were donated to Maggie's.

    The exhibition has so far raised £13,000 for Maggie's. If you are interested in purchasing a special edition print, there are still some available. These can be viewed at www.pennywhite.net. To make a purchase, please contact Pippi on 020 7386 1753 or email pippi.reader@maggiescentres.org.

    Maggie's London are delighted to have had The River Café support Love Maggie's Day by getting involved in helping fundraise. The prominent restuarant offered their Winter Set Lunch menu from Monday 18 January to Wednesday 31 March at a fabulous discount.

    Love Maggie's Day

    A big thank you to everyone who celebrated Love Maggie’s Day on Friday 26 March – it was an enormous success and would not have been possible without the help from everyone who contributed! Maggie’s London was packed full of people – including Sarah Brown, Janet Ellis, Aggie MacKenzie and Anneka Rice.

    The sun shone at midday for the ‘Big Hug’ and we all sang our hearts out to Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. The day was packed full of taster sessions, cake decorating, yummy food, delicious cakes, laughter and music. Look forward to celebrating it again next year! Just because Love Maggie's Day is over, doesn't mean you have to stop doing things you love to help raise awareness of the support that Maggie's offers.   • Stuart Gillies' Pudding Club

    Thank you so much to Stuart Gillies from Boxwood Café for hosting such a great Maggie's Pudding Club. Stuart, and his assistant Kim, demonstrated how to cook three different puddings which guests then got to taste and take the recipe home with them.

    Stuart Gillies is the Executive Chef at the Boxwood Café, owned by Gordon Ramsey. Stuart's passion and contagious drive was captured by Gordon who immediately offered Stuart the reins to Boxwood Café which opened in 2003. He’s also been featured in TV series including GMTV, Masterchef Goes Large and BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen.

    The evening raised over £1,000 in total. All the money raised is going towards Maggie's London, where Stuart hosted this event. Thank you to Stuart, Kim and all our wonderful guests for making our first ever pudding club in Maggie's London, such a success. Here's to many more!

  • Maggie's Teddy Bear's Picnic

    Thank you to everyone who organised the Teddy Bear’s Picnic and came along to help out on the day. It was such a success and we think there were about 700 – 1,000 people who made it on the day. We had lots of things for the kids to get involved in – including a theatre show, face painting, cookery classes, a bouncy castle, Fulham Football Club speed cage and much more!

    The day raised just under £2,000 which really is a fabulous achievement…. Well done everyone!
