    If you haven’t been into the Maggie’s Centre before this is a perfect opportunity to come for a tour and the opportunity to meet both Andrew the Centre Head and Marion the fundraiser to discuss any opportunities you or your company may have to work with Maggie’s Edinburgh. You will also be able to meet with other like minded individuals and will be a perfect opportunity to network.

    We have been given a opportunity to hold Easter gift wrapping across Waterstones stores in Scotland and looking for volunteers to cover the five in Edinburgh and Livingston.   • Scotland's Gardens Scheme

    Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres are one of Scotland's Gardens Schemes main beneficiaries please visit as many gardens as you can that are opening for SGS and by doing so supporting Maggie's Centres. To see a list of open gardens go to www.gardensofscotland.org.

    10 Pilton Drive – Open Day - Sunday 15 April, 11am - 4.30pm

    Divided into three areas, the garden is 90 x 40 feet. In April, fritillarias, erythronium 'Pagoda' and other plants flower in the woodland area. In May the rockery and herbaceous bed are in flower. There are ponds, a greenhouse and numerous unusual species, e.g. vestia, actinidia. kolomikta and ribes Speciosum. The last area is evergreen with Polyanthus and Tulips. Please come along for a look around the garden, some homemade teas and a browse of the plant stall!

  • Spring fete

    Sunday 13 May 2012, 11am - 3pm

    We love an excuse for coffee and cakes so Maggie’s Edinburgh will be holding their Spring Fete at the centre! It’s a chance to pop in and have a look around the centre and our stalls, enjoy some home baking and hopefully win a prize in our tombola! The Maggie’s garden just outside the centre will also be in full bloom so this will be a lovely chance to see the space and relax on one of our garden benches (weather dependant!).

    Hosted by Grant Stott this is a chance to dress up and get together for a fun afternoon with your girlfriends. Enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival, a delicious three course lunch (including a half bottle of wine per person) with guest speaker and a chance to have a mini treatment from One Spa therapists. There will also be a opportunity to win some indulgent treats in our fabulous auction and raffle.

  • Art Auction Dinner

    Friday 8th June, Corn Exchange, Edinburgh

    Starting with drinks reception at 7pm and a chance to look at the auction prizes. Prizes for auction donated by new young Edinburgh based artists as well as the top prize which is a VIP tour of Red Bull Formula One Factory donated by Infiniti cars.

    Tickets for 9 guests are £1,000 with the organisers providing a surprise tenth guest to the table or you can buy a individual ticket. Evening includes a four course gourmet dinner as well as entertainment throughout the night.

  • Rotary Forth Bridge Abseil Challenge 2012

    Your chance to take this unique challenge to abseil 165ft SAS style, (i.e. freefall) from the Forth Rail Bridge onto the beach below. No previous experience is necessary; it is suitable for everyone over the age of fourteen. Our team of highly skilled instructors from the Glasgow Climbing Centre will ensure you are equipped with all you need to make your abseil as safe and enjoyable as possible.

    Parental consent is required for persons aged under eighteen wishing to abseil.

    Registration fee £20 with a minimum sponsorship of £100

    We are also looking for lots of volunteers for this event and if you are available we would love to have you join us. We are looking for people who can volunteer in either the morning, afternoon or who can do a full day of volunteering!

    Choose to run 5km, walk 6 or 12 miles or take part in either the golden mile or the toddlers walk. Event is suitable for the whole family of any age and even the dog can go along!

  • Sing in the City

    We now have stock of the eagerly anticipated CD from the choir. The choir have now played at both Maggie’s monster Bike and hike and at the opening of Maggie’s Gartnavel and are fantastic fun! The CD is available in the centre for £10 and well worth a listen so please come in and buy one. The choir is now so big they have had to set up a second choir and are looked after by choir master Kirsty Baird if you would like more information about the choir please go to www.singinthecity.kirstybaird.co.uk.

    Lisa has set herself the challenge of raising £50,000 between now and October next year and after her launch night which raised £18,000 I think she may need to revise her target! She does an amazing job volunteering in the centre and at some of our events and we really appreciate everything she does for us. Margaret couldn't make our volunteer night on Tuesday so here she is receiving a certificate and huge bunch of flowers from all of us in the team!!

    As always the choir didn’t disappoint! Their 50+ performance choir was accompanied by their own professional 5 piece Sing in the City band! Their all new set list was great and like usual had people on their feet dancing the night away! All profits from the two nights are being split between Maggie’s and Radio Lollipop so a total will be updated very soon! A massive thank you to musical Director Kirsty Baird and the whole choir for your continued support from Maggie’s Edinburgh!

    Stephs event at Murrayfield saw over 300 guests enjoy stovies and entertainment from the band U-Know-Hoo as well as DJ Barrie Wilkins till 1am. Special thanks to Steph for pulling such an amazing night together as well as Scott Wilson for being the MC and Stephs cousins who ran about all night and who all helped raise funds for the Centre.
